1st August 08BEFORE THE RUIN

The new album 'Before the ruin' arrives in all good record shops, online etc on Monday September 15th in the UK. So far no international release has been sorted out, maybe it will happen, who knows.
The album was written during spells throughout 2007 in Edinburgh, and recorded in Castleford in Yorkshire and in Glasgow Dec 07, and Jan 08. As well as Roddy, John and Kris, the album features musical contributions from the likes of Norman Blake and Francis MacDonald from Teenage Fanclub, Phil Selway from Radiohead, and Ewan Vernal and Donald Shaw from Capercaille.
The cover was painted by Orcadian painter Charles Shearer. It describes the physical, and metaphorical pull of the ocean, which is also a main theme of the record.
More DMW live shows will take place in February and in June 2009.

1st August 08UNDER ONE SKY
Roddy takes part in John McCuskers musical project which tours around the Uk this winter. see live page for details.
The show features musicians from Scotland and England, including Julie Fowlis, John Tams, Graham Coxon, Norman Blake, Ian Carr and Andy Cutting amongst others. The music was all written and put together by John, with various musicians contributing their own parts and ideas. It's a big collaboration and is good fun to watch onstage. Roddy sings two songs which were written with john, he is also involved with some of the other tunes, including one where he has to sing in Gaelic. Or attempt to.
Under one sky has had two previous live showings at the celtic connections festival, and cambridge folk festival, both in 2007. An album of the project is planned.
